Diagnosing and Treating Alzheimer’s Disease – An Ophthalmologist’s Approach – An Interview with Shalesh Kaushal, MD, PhD

Dr. Shalesh Kaushal, MD, PhD describes how by evaluating the retina with sophisticated testing and technology an interested retinal specialist can see the early retinal signs of Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive decline and begin intervening much earlier in the disease process. Nutrition basics for all his patients includes the consumption of an unprocessed, whole food diet, minimizing added oils and sugars, that is low glycemic and allows for the consumption of only low glycemic carbohydrates and lots of green leafy vegetables rich in sulforaphane which is an important nutrient for retinal health. He recommends at least the consumption of a high quality, broad spectrum multivitamin/mineral supplement and fish oil or sea vegetable consumption (algal oil).  FULL INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPTS CLICK HERE
