Kirk Hamilton: Can you please share your educational background and current position?
Panagis Polykretis: I earned my degree in Biology at the University of Florence (Italy), followed by a PhD in Structural Biology at the Magnetic Resonance Center (CERM) also at the University of Florence. That training gave me a solid grounding in structural and molecular biology and in biophysics. After my PhD, I stayed on at CERM as a post-doctoral researcher, and then moved to the Institute of Applied Physics “Nello Carrara” of Italy’s National Research Council (CNR), in Sesto Fiorentino, where I worked as a researcher for four years — until, as I was told, “my views” and my publications on the COVID-19 vaccines closed off further progression in my career there.
