Case Study of Abdominal Discomfort, Frequent Night Time Urination and Incomplete Bladder Emptying…

History…
A 62 year old male who I hadn’t seen since 2021 when he was treated for Covid came in 2 months ago very concerned about a persistent lower abdominal “Discomfort” not quite an outright pain that was there all the time. He was urinating 2-4 times per night but most annoying it would take him 2-3 minutes to INCOMPLETELY empty his bladder. He was also seeing a chiropractor for a right sided sciatic condition that was slowly
resolving. Fifteen plus years ago at a large HMO he had to be catheterized for urinary retention. A urinalysis and culture was done when this pain started about 3 months ago which were negative. He presented with no burning with urination or blood in his urine. His PSA a half year prior was 2.81 and a year or two before that it was 1.4. His urinary stream was more frequent throughout the day and he had less hesitancy. He had prostatitis in his twenties and he a a period where he had sinus infections once a year for 5 years treated with antibiotics. He had to get a Moderna shot to visit his father in Canada which he said he had a bad reaction to of achiness and lethargy for 3 days in 2021.
Diet…
He drank two large 16 oz coffees during the day. The first was his breakfast with cream and sugar. He would have a second coffee at 11:00 a.m. and 2 cups of green tea throughout the day. He had about 20 alcoholic drinks per month. He didn’t eat much dairy products or sweets. The alcohol intake and two large coffees with cream and sugar were consistent for several years.
Testing At Our Office…
His urinalysis was negative. An abdominal ultrasound was negative except for an enlarged prostate and elevated post void residual urine. His quantitative SarsCov2 IGG antibodies were high at >2500 (should be <.8 u/ml or definitely < 1000 – likely due to the Covid vaccination in 2021). A repeat test using Lab Corp instead of Quest Labs will give me what the exact number >2500 is if it doesn’t go above 25,000. This is suggested to mean that the mRNA from the Covid vaccine in 2021 is still directing the body to make more spike protein…a very potent toxic biological agent that was responsible for the massive clotting that killed people in Covid infections. The lingering spike protein also has been associated with multiple cardiovascular problems such as myocarditis, heart attacks, strokes, atrial fibrillation, etc.. The vaccine has also been associated with Long Haul Covid, brain fog and acceleration of cognitive decline which the mRNA created spike protein is believed to be the causative agent. Many believe Covid mRNA vaccines/spike protein are the cause of “Turbo Cancers;” new cancers and recurring cancers happening more frequently in younger age groups that are more aggressive. Infertility issues are associated with the vaccine since the spike protein has been show to be distributed all over the body, including the reproductive organs.
This patient was also low in RBC zinc. His PSA was reasonable at 2.24. His HgA1c and insulin were respectable at 5.1 and 7.1 (insulin below 5 would be better) so his blood sugar metabolism was under control. His CBC and metabolic panel were normal as was his thyroid panel. He was very low normal in his free and bioavailable testosterone so he is a candidate for testosterone replacement but I like men in this position to work 3 or so months first on lifestyle to see if they can raised their own testosterone before supplementation for generally a “lifetime” (also off alcohol, exercise and strength training, etc.). His omega 3 fatty acids were low a 2.9 per his omega check and while he had a good “classic” cholesterol profile his sLDL particles could be lower reducing his cardiovascular risk. His CoQ10 levels were solid.
Treatment…
I challenged him to stay off coffee (cream and sugar) and alcohol for two weeks (preferably a month which he eventually did). He was given a 2 week trial of Fluconazole as a challenge test to see if there was any fungal component to his abdominal pain and the fact that he had been on quite a lot of antibiotics and consumed sugars for some time for the sinus infections in the past. He was given some omega 3 fatty acids from algae oil, a nitric oxide booster, herbal and nutritional prostate and testosterone support supplements, zinc, probiotics, anti-spike protein nutrients (bromelain, curcumin, nattokinase ) and a 1 month trial of Ivermectin because it has an anti-inflammatory effect and I have seen it benefit patients with elevated spike protein antibodies.
Patient Progress…
At one month followup he said he had a 50% reduction in his abdominal and urinary symptoms. He was having less pain that went away quicker in his lower abdomen/bladder. He was getting up less at night, 1-3 times but he still had to wait a long time to urinate sometimes just sitting on the toilet at night and waiting minutes to empty his bladder. To his credit he said he was committed to staying off the alcohol and coffee because he was feeling better, though coffee was much harder to stay off of. He was encouraged to stay off dairy, wheat, eggs (sometimes a common allergen), coffee and alcohol because he was improving off of and see how far this approach could take him. He did not at this visit want to take testosterone, though at many “anti-aging” clinics they would have encouraged him to to so.
At his 2 month followup to his credit he had stayed off the alcohol and coffee intake completely for a total of 8 weeks. His night time urination was 1-2 times per night down from 4-5 and his abdominal pain/discomfort was 90% gone. He noted for 8 weeks total he had no coffee or alcohol. He still wanted to wait on any testosterone replacement. Remember once you start hormones generally you are going to take them for life.
Comments…
My guess is that alcohol, sugar, cream and irritants in coffee maybe be the biggest culprits in his abdominal pain and urinary symptoms. Right now is the most challenging part for the patient. There may had been a little yeast overgrowth for which the fluconazole dealt with reducing his inflammatory load. He has had pretty dramatic results. If a single drug would have taken away his abdominal pain, slowed his urinary frequency and improved his voiding he would think that it was a wonder drug. I see this all the time. Food elimination, especially alcohol, coffee (dairy and wheat) can result in dramatic improvements in a wide variety of symptoms in a 1-2 month period. Sometimes even in a week. But then the patient starts adding back in a food. Let’s say this patient’s coffee consumption goes from once a week to 3-4 times per week. But only 1 small cup not like his 2 large ones every day. Let’s say he also adds back in alcohol on the weekends only. This can be a “slippery slope” and symptoms may return and the patient forgets that they improved in the first place. To me I think the things that made the biggest difference for this patient was coffee (cream and sugar) and alcohol elimination and the two week anti-fungal trial. Maybe the Ivermectin added to the inflammation reduction. I don’t know but it is an extremely safe and cost effective compounded medication. I will be following the number on this patient’s spike protein antibodies (quantitative if ordered not qualitative) several times this year. We’ll see how well he stays with the reduced coffee and alcohol intake and his symptom regression.
Lessons…
Think food elimination first of commonly eaten foods for any complaint. Elimination of all dairy, wheat, eggs, caffeine and alcohol for at-least 2 weeks and the rest of the diet stays as “WHOLE FOODS” is a great place to start. If you can do it for a month you may save $1000s of dollars in medical expenses for further testing, office visits and drug treatments for “symptoms.” Once you know what causes your symptoms you are in charge of when and how you want to feel. A 4-7 day water fast is very informative if you can do it. Or, do Prolon, a fasting mimicking diet, once a month for 5 days each month for 3 months.
